Obituary for Maude Helen Jones (Carroll)

Maude Helen Carroll Jones, 81, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2017. Maude was born on March 7, 1935 in Wake County to her parents Lois Edward and Helen Belle Wyatt Carroll.

Maude retired from D.H. Hill Library at NCSU where she worked for thirty years. She was an active member for most of her life at North Street Baptist Church (now Quest Fellowship) and later at Longview Baptist Church. Maude was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 10001.

Maude was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one year “the love of her life” James “Jimmie” Jones and her sister Ruth Carroll Hoskins.

Maude is survived by her daughters, Carol Boatwright and her husband Kip of Raleigh and Karen Averett and her husband Tommy of Newport News, Virginia; four grandsons or as she referred to them as “her boys”, Justin Boatwright, Josh Boatwright, Nathan Averett and Tyler Averett; her grand cats, Gabby, George, Gizmo and Felix and grand dogs, Luke and Zoey.

A celebration of Maude’s life will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 with a visitation from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by funeral services at 12:00 pm at Montlawn Funeral Home 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh. Interment at Montlawn Memorial Park. A special thanks is extended to Pruitt Healthcare Hospice and her lifelong friend Lou Mangum for always being there. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Longview Baptist Church Building Fund or the Wounded Warriors Project. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.montlawn.com.
