Obituary for Marshall Glenwood Stocks

Marshall Glenwood Stocks, 66, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 11, 2016, with his family at his bedside.
Marshall is survived by his wife of 44 years, Deborah Stocks. Their three children, Michelle Stocks Anderson of Four Oaks; Shannon Stocks of Smithfield; and Eric Stocks and his wife Chasity of Garner. In addition to his wife and children, he is also survived by his pride and joy, his grandchildren - Austin Anderson, Nathaniel Johnson, Tanner Moye, Mackenzie Cook and the newest addition, soon to come - Abel Stocks. He also, leaves behind two sisters, Margie Carter of Burgaw, Barbara Taylor (Alvin) of Goldsboro; and one brother, David Stocks of Goldsboro; and, a very special caregiver, Gail Bass (lovingly referred to as his red headed step-child). He also has 10 nieces and nephews and 14 great nieces and nephews and he will be greatly missed by them all.
Mr. Stocks was preceded in death by his parents, Zeno Marvin Stocks, and Christine Avery Stocks, and a brother, Marvin Stocks, Jr., all formerly of Goldsboro.
Mr. Stocks served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1970 to 1972 as a Sergeant, receiving a National Defense Service Medal. After leaving the military, he worked with Coca Cola Bottling Company and International Paper Company, retiring from both.
Pallbearers for the service are Eric Stocks, Austin Anderson, Nathan Johnson, Eddie Newcomb, Danny Spencer and Clinton Harris, Jr.
The family is being served by Montlawn Funeral Home of Raleigh. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 14 from 7-9 pm, with a graveside service on Wednesday, June 15 at 2 pm, at Montlawn Memorial Park.
